Open and minimally invasive lung surgeries

Physicians of the Center perform all types of operations on the lungs, trachea, bronchi, chest wall and diaphragm.

According to the hospital’s statistics, 65% of inpatient and 90% of outpatient interventions are carried out using the VATS minimally invasive technology.

VATS — Video-assisted thoracic surgery is provided through 2-3 small incisions under control of a mini-camera. A patient recovers several times faster after VATS than after an open operation, when the patient’s chest is opened.

  • lung cancer with complications
  • pleura cancer
  • chest wall tumors

The treatment is carried out by a medical team consisted of a physical therapist, a speech therapist, a neuropsychologist. There is a trained therapy dog in the Department. Communication with the dog helps patients to show interest to the world and relieves nervous tension.

Methods of neurological rehabilitation:

  • Bobath therapy is a type of rehabilitation, which consists of physical therapy, stretching, massage. Due to Bobath therapy, a patient gets rid of the increased muscle tone and can keep standing position without support.
