Dr. Consoli graduated and specialized in Neuropsychiatry at the University of Turin with full marks and honours (1985). He carried out professional activities as director of the Department of Pathology of Addiction of various public health facilities in Turin. Dr. Consoli deals with depressive disorders in adolescents and adults, disorders due to problematic use of psychoactive substances, smoking, alcohol and gambling. He has carried out outpatient therapy and rehabilitation projects as well as through day and residential centres.
Today he works in psychiatry and addiction medicine field as an expert in training and clinical and organizational supervision. He is the Medical Director of a private health facility and coordinates the TMS Unit of Santa Caterina da Siena Hospital. From 2017 to 2020 he was the Coordinator of the Regional Alcoholic Group - Piedmont Region.
He held the role of Italian representative as an Expert on behalf of the Department for Addiction-related Issues of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers at UNODOC, Vienna, Austria, and as an Expert of the Council of Europe - Pompidou Group, Strasbourg, Platform on Addiction Treatments.
Since 2010, for over 10 years, Dr. Consoli has been President of the National Association of Public Therapeutic Communities. From 1993 to the present he has been a member of the last Council of Experts in the field of drug addiction at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
He carries out teaching activities related to his experience at various University Institutes throughout Italy: Master's Degree in Alcohol (University of Florence), Specialization School of the Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (Turin), Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy-Mitchell (Turin), at the Higher School of Advanced Studies of Neuroscience in Trieste (SISSA).
He has participated as a speaker in numerous national and international conferences on the issues of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of addictions and on the problems of clinical pharmacology and toxicology. He is also the author of over 90 publications including articles, book chapters and essays on the issues of healthcare organization, bioethics, pathological addictions and clinical pharmacology and toxicology.
