"You are best !!!"
Good day to all! Finally we got our hands on writing about the treatment of our child at the Sant Joan de Deu Barselona hospital. I would like to say once again a huge thank you to Bookimed for the help in choosing a clinic. This is not just a hospital, THIS IS A SUPER HOSPITAL !!! To be honest, they did not even expect that medicine could be of such a high level. About the staff separately: from nurses to professors of the clinic, damn well, all simple, normal, kind people. I have never seen such attention to a child, literally everything is scheduled by the minute, everyone is smiling, joking. In general, the little one did not understand that he had undergone a complex operation on the spinal cord. After the operation and coming out of complex anesthesia, the child never even cried and did not experience any pain (except for changing the dressing, removing the adhesive plaster). The hospital itself is huge, EVERYTHING FOR CHILDREN, everything is in pictures, slides, balls, a dinosaur farm. Everything has been done so that the children would not be afraid of doctors, etc. And a special BIG THANKS to our neurosurgeon Jose Hinojosa Mena-Bernal with a capital letter. This is a man with golden hands and a kind heart (just works wonders)! The child began to walk on his own 5 days after the operation. Thanks to Mikki, the resuscitator, a young guy who looked after the little one after the operation, like his son. And also the hospital's translator, Mikhail, who, together with us, empathized with everything that happened, thanks to nurse Svetlana who helped in all matters related to caring for the little one, including as an interpreter, and just a good kind woman. Thanks to our curator of the hospital for organizing the stay in the clinic, cheerful, always cheerful with a smile on her face Valeria, deciding all issues of hospitalization and treatment. Hello, my name is Vladislav Ivanov, Ukraine, Odessa city. In February 2021, my daughter Vlada was diagnosed with anaplastic ependymoma, we went to the doctors for a week trying to find out why the child started having severe headaches. They went through examinations, did an MRI, and as a fact, they found a brain tumor. That's when the ground slipped from under my feet. Realization has come - this has already happened, which means you need to quickly take action. The first thing we did was go to the children's hospital in Kyiv, the child was given a shunt. But unfortunately, fluid began to collect in my head and my vision began to fall sharply. The doctors explained that an operation was urgently needed. We did not have a large accumulated amount, and we decided to complete the operation abroad. We contacted Bookmed. We contacted the employee Marina. Marina quickly found a clinic for us in Turkey, organized a trip for us, flew to Turkey in a matter of days. The hospital was already waiting for us. Examined, took blood for tests and the next day an operation was scheduled. Everything went well. Then they underwent a course of radiotherapy. The results are positive, we were sent home to Ukraine (August 2021). Every 3 months they underwent MRI, the pictures were good .. But a year later, in March 2022, we heard the terrible words “relapse”, “war”. Hastily collected the necessary documents and left for Lviv. From there, by large buses, all children with cancer began to be taken out along the humanitarian corridor from Ukraine to Europe. The daughter and his wife were assigned to France. A second operation was performed, the tumor was removed, and after that a course of chemotherapy was prescribed. After a month of taking the course, the doctor said that chemotherapy was not helping. The doctor suggested experimental chemotherapy, but that didn't help either. As a result, the daughter is getting worse and worse every day. The child began to walk badly, the right leg and handle practically do not work. The child melted before my eyes. It's all very scary, but it's worse to leave Vlad without an opportunity for treatment. I again turned to Marina Bookmed Marina again very quickly found us a hospital in Turkey, helped us with the flight Paris Istanbul. Arrived at the hospital 2 days later, the operation was successful!!! After the operation, the child began to talk, swallow, and after a couple of days to walk. Great and thorough communication, after weeks of research we ended up choosing Prof. Oliver, had a Skype consultation and scheduled the surgery a few months later. My mother got the best care, the surgery went perfect despite all the risks associated with brain surgery. I can’t thank Prof. Oliver Bartolome enough, his skill is a gift from God! He was extremely kind and patient and answered all the questions throughout our hospital stay and follow up appointments. The surgery bought us +10 precious years with our mother which is priceless! The hospital is very clean, food is good and staff is friendly; great views of the Tibidabo from the hospital room and gorgeous green manicured gardens that lead to the main entrance. The place is huge, it took me a couple days to learn my way around from the parking to all the right departments.

The ward is excellent, the attentive staff, the surgeon is a master of his craft, testing, organization, time accuracy at a high level. It’s bad that there is a lack of Russian-speaking staff, without English knowledge it can be difficult to explain what is needed, the Russian-speaking Yako-coordinator is busy and it is difficult to find it urgently. The kitchen could to be more European, but enough food and quite tolerable. I ordered the interpreter when I met at the airport and departure separately.

The doctors are qualified, they explain everything in detail, they are treated with respect. The chamber is very comfortable, beautiful view from the window, which helps to switch a little from the disease. There is wi-fi in the ward, which is very important for foreign patients, since you can always contact your relatives without any problems. There is a TV, a fridge, a shower and a toilet in the ward. I am very pleased with the book service, namely Katerina and Daria, as they facilitated all the organizational issues. We picked up the necessary flight at the best price. I was very worried that when we arrived at the airport we would reach the clinic without knowing the language. Very god and experienced surgeon, I recommend him to everyone who needs bariatric surgery. Unfortunately I can’t say the same about the hospital . The hospital was a big disappointment. Despite nurse Berna it was a big problem to get competent medical care. The staff do not speak English, that is worsening the situation.Very low level of medical qualifications of the nurses . No help from caregivers. I kindly recommend to the surgeon to choose another hospital for the future.

Hello everybody. Thanks to the Clinic for a successful operation. To the Neurosurgeon Mustafa Onaz and Professor Gohan. We are diagnosed with Brain cancer, the last stage, malignant. The tumor was twice as large. They saved my husband's life. Masha Allah. The operation was 8-9 hours. they deleted everything, I consider this a record. It was a difficult operation. Well done.
